Giardini Naxos is also known as the city of sirens, who populated the nearby Sirina river, which divides the city from Taormina. The ancient legend tells that on a full moon night, a group of local boys and girls, fascinated by the silver reflections of the moon on the water and the songs of the sirens, went down the valley but never returned. It is thought that the children, for their candor of children, were transformed into Sirens and every night of the full moon, you can hear their songs coming from the waters of the Sirina.
